I finally read House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas, I buddy read this beast with Emily from @booklepuff on instagram so I thought I’d do a quick review on my thoughts from it.
To start with I found the first 100ish gone pages to be a little info dumpy, there was a lot to take in and I was worried I wasn’t going to like it however it’s ended up being for me the best book that Sarah J Maas has ever written, my favourite before was A Court of Mist and Fury, I mean phew guys, that book was everything, but this one just topped it.
You can tell that her writing has evolved from her past two series and this is a proper adult fantasy whereas Throne of Glass is pure YA I also see A Court of Thorns and Rose series as an in-between of YA and Adult.
Once I’d read over 200 pages which had taken me like four days to do.. *animal crossing* after that I managed to just end up binging nearly the rest of it in a whole day, from 200 and something to around 670 where I ended up only having 100 pages left which I could’ve stayed up to finish but it was gone 11pm so I went to bed.
The story was incredible, I think this must be my favourite kind of genre it’s a fantasy but this one is also a mystery where the main characters Bryce and Hunt go on a mission together to uncover the real murderer behind her best friends death two years after the fact when new murders arise linking them together to another old mystery of who stolen the Luna Horn then as well.
This book kept me on my toes, I was constantly guessing and doubting people, nothing really went they way that I expect it to, I overall really enjoyed it, I’ve been dwelling on the rating for ages as because this is my favourite of hers now, it’s making me want to lower my initial ratings of ACOTAR & TOG.
Have you read this one yet? Or have you been a bit hesitant?
