Captain Marvel: Cosmic Cat-Tastrophe by Sam Maggs

Thank you to Sam at Penguin Random House for sending me a copy of this book!

Captain Marvel: Cosmic Cat-Tastrophe is a middle grade graphic novel, it’s out on the 24th March, and is only 72 pages.

When I received this I couldn’t help but read it straight away, it’s super short and I got dragged in because cats. Who can resist cats?!

Carol Danvers’ quiet night with BFF Jessica Drew (a.k.a. Spider-Woman) takes a cat-astrophic turn when Manhattan’s bodegas are suddenly overrun by a host of angry felines! And not just any felines–Flerkens, the most terrifying, pocket-dimension-holding, tentacle-devouring kitty-look-alikes in the entire universe! Carol’s paw-sitive she can handle the situation on her own, but questions remain: can she overcome the fur-midible foes before it’s too late? How well does the “Find My Phone” function actually work? And will there be more cat puns?!

It’s a Flerken invasion in the latest addition to the mighty Marvel Action banner!

I don’t know much about Captain Marvel myself as I’ve only see the film last year, which I enjoyed and loved, I am a massive Marvel film fan and Chewie/Goose is amazing. (Chewie in the comics, Goose in the films)

Aside from these adorable alien cats that were in this comic book, I LOVED the cat puns they were just paw-some, they had me feline happy. Should I stop? I just thought that they were purrfect… The art style in the comic was good too, I loved the details, the cats were adorable and I enjoyed seeing other marvel characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy join in as well.Β

I’m looking forwards to reading more graphic novels of Captain Marvel in the future as I thought that this one was really good and I do want to see some more of Sam Maggs incredible art!

the all important question, are you a DC or Marvel fan?
