But then, one day, with her freedom in sight, Tavia uncovers a sinister plot that threatens to destroy the realm she calls home. Desperate to put an end to her kingpin’s plan, Tavia forms an unlikely alliance with three crooks even more deadly than her:

Wesley, the kingpin’s prodigy and most renewed criminal in the realm

Karam, an underground fighter with a penchant for killing first and forgetting to ask questions

And Saxony, a Crafter in hiding who will stop at nothing to avenge her family

With the reluctant saviours assembled, they embark on a quest to put an end to the dark magic before it’s too late. But even if they can take down the kingpin and save the realm, the one thing they can’t do is trust each other.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the publisher, all opinions are my own

Thank you Hot Key Books for sending me a gorgeous ARC copy of this book along with a map and a rubber bat!

I absolutely adored Alexandra Christo’s debut novel, To Kill A Kingdom, so I’ve been hyper excited to get my hands on her next one ever since it was announced and all it said was ‘gangster fantasy’ and I knew it would be love at first sight♥️

I’ve been thinking about how to write this review for DAYS, I mean it’s been a couple weeks since I finished this at the beginning of September, it’s one of those books where it was so good that I’m struggling to put my feelings into words. This book is done from four points of view and I found it incredibly easy to follow along with whose who.

I adored all of the characters, they were all unique in their own way, I’ve seen this being compared to Six of Crows, I’ve only just started Six of Crows so can’t really say a lot about it BUT I do see what people are saying though I wouldn’t say it was similar, but it actually gave me more Ace of Shades vibes, which is also an awesome book.

I’ve fallen in love with Wesley, new book boyfriend material here guys! I loved the badass female characters, Tavia, Saxony & Karam, they were all amazing in their own way and I can’t wait for you all to fall in love with these characters too! I found the storyline to be enthralling, I was hooked from the very first page, I managed to devour most of it in a day but I was so tired that I couldn’t finish the last 60 odd pages as I wanted to be able to actually absorb the information and I’m glad that I did, I think I would’ve been awake a lot longer just thinking about the way it ended, it had me shook and there’s LGBTQ representation in this book!

I desperately need book two in my life AND SOON because I need to know what’s going to happen next! I found that this was very different to Alexandra Christo’s first novel, To Kill A Kingdom, which I did enjoy immensely as well but I think that she’s also improved a lot, writing wise, since that one so if you didn’t really enjoy her debut but not sure if this one is for you I would recommend giving this one a go anyway!

I absolutely adore my ARC copy and I know that I will 100% be reading this when I can because I want to annotate it! I can’t wait for it to officially be out because I need the beautiful finished copy in my life.. I mean look at it..

B E A U T I FU L, also I’m a sucker for purple covers, so that’s definitely a reason why I adore it!

If you didn’t realise and it’s somehow not obvious to you, I RECOMMEND THIS! It’s an incredible read, it gets you hooked, reels you in and BAM there’s the ending that you’re not expecting… You should all go preorder this like now, I’ll even help you along with some links, it’s out on October 8th so not long left to wait!
