Her life is in his hands. His heart in hers. One hundred days to choose who lives.

A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.

Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret–she’s a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.

But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead–her gumiho soul–in the process.

Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl–he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He’s drawn to her anyway.

With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon’s.

Okay so not only does this book have an absolutely GORGEOUS cover but the story is incredible too! I flew through this unexpectedly quickly and I fell in love with both the story and both of the main characters, Gu Miyoung and Jihoon. If you didn’t know Wicked Fox is a Korean story and based off of the ancient myth/tale of gumiho the legend of the nine tailed fox which before this book I hadn’t heard of the tale before so it was really nice to see some different myths being retold!

In this book we have two main characters whom we see from their points of view, there is Gu Miyoung who is our Gumiho and Jihoon a human boy whom Miyoung saves after he gets attacked by a goblin whilst walking in the forest with his dog..

Speaking of the dog.. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DOG?! He got mentioned once after this moment and never again, like is he okay?! WHO IS LOOKING AFTER HIM!? This is clearly a major thing to care about😂 anyway, moving on!

After Miyoung saves Jihoon, she loses her fox bead which is her gumiho soul and Jihoon is the one to find it and without realising he holds her life in his hands.

The romance in this was well done as well, I found that it wasn’t overly soppy or anything like that, I just feel that this entire book is just something different to read, a nice change to reading a major heavy fantasy.

I loved Miyoung as a character, I found that she was so driven and her character arc throughout the book was compelling so I’m looking forwards to seeing how Miyoung progresses in the second book!

Wicked Fox is Kat Cho’s debut, it’s a YA contemporary fantasy and after the ending that this gave, I NEED BOOK TWO ASAP! Where do I sell my soul for it? This one was such a fun read, I found it incredibly difficult to put down, it was just so easy to read, I can’t wait to grab myself a full cover copy once it is released!

I definitely recommend that you preorder a copy of this beautiful book because you won’t regret reading it, it’s light, fun and something refreshing to read :3
