Brianna Colbert is settling into life as the adopted daughter of the house of MacQuinn. But as the new queen’s closest confidant she’ll have to balance serving her father as well as her country. And then there’s Brienna’s old tutor, Cartier Évariste…
Cartier, now head of the once ruined house Morgana, is falling for Brianna, fast. With the trial of the old king rapidly approaching, Brianna and Cartier will have to put their love aside to ensure that no one halts the new queen’s coronation. But resistance is rumbling among the old king’s supporters, who are desperate to find a weakness in the united rebel forces. And what makes one more vulnerable than love?
I buddy read this book with the ever lovely Suzanne (@bookmarvel) as one of our two monthly buddy reads!
The Queen’s Resistance is the second book in the Queen’s Rising series, I’m unsure as to whether this was the final instalment into this or not, it was left open ended and I’m really hoping that Rebecca Ross writes a third book as I absolutely love this series! Out of the two, The Queen’s Rising is definitely my favourite of the two but the romance in this one was just more😍
I really loved the story of this one, some parts of it was just heartbreaking and some of it really uplifting especially in the final two parts of this book, the book is divided up into five different parts and done from Brienna’s and Cartiers points of view!
There were a couple of new characters that got introduced, Neeve being one and I just really liked her from the beginning! The ending of this book was just adorable and partially the reason I want a third book because I need more Brienna and Cartier in my life, I feel that there’s so much more that the author could do with this world as well! So I definitely recommend reading the first one if you haven’t and if you have, I recommend you reading this one! I’m really intrigued to see what Rebecca Ross will be writing next as her untitled book on Goodreads says it’s not to do with The Queen’s Rising so I’m looking forwards to reading whatever it is!
