I’ve not uploaded in like a week as I was ill and then I just couldn’t be bothered, I just couldn’t get into the mindset to post anything, I’m now back and here’s my review of a book that I finished earlier this month! 🙂
Title: Bright Ruin
Author: Vic James
Published: July 26th
Publisher: Pan Macmillan
Series: Dark Gifts 3/3
My Rating: ★★★★☆
Thank you Pan Macmillan for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a review! 🙂
Bright Ruin is the conclusion to the Dark Gifts Trilogy, this trilogy consists of Gilded Cage (#1) and Tarnished City (#2). I really enjoyed reading this trilogy, it was admittedly a bit slow at times but there were intense moments and filled with action and it really leaves you with so many questions. Especially the ending of the third book, it ended on what felt like to me a huge cliffhanger, how could you leave it off like that Vic?! I still have questions and I want a small conclusion about certain characters, where they are and what THE HELL IS GOING ON?! I’m hoping for like a small novella which
will probably never happen or at least for Vic to answer some questions because I need to know. If you’ve read the book you’ll hopefully know what I’m on about, if you haven’t well, have I made you curious enough to want to read the trilogy yet?
I finished reading Bright Ruin in a couple of days, it’s quite a hefty book at 484 pages, the most exciting part of this book was the last 100 pages which made me panic because there was no way this was going to end well, and spoilers, it didn’t. It’s been two weeks since I finished it and I’m still distraught over it.
It was nice to see the characters in the book evolve, I loved reading Silyen and Luke’s parts as it was just perfect, I never like the character Bouda at all throughout any of the books, she was just a b*tch. This book was just a whirlwind of emotions and I definitely recommending the entire trilogy if you haven’t started it yet! I gave all of these books four out of five stars, this one would have been five stars if the ending wasn’t such a cliffhanger. I guess if no one will give me answers I’ll have to make up my own ending on what happens. I mean there’s even a character that just disappears in the book and then nEVER MENTIONED AGIAN. Which frustrates the hell outta me, but I still recommend you all reading this book and joining me in my bottomless pit of emotions.
I just remembered the Vic sent a postcard with the copies of Bright Ruin when they went out saying ‘I hope you love how it all ends.’ I SHOULD’VE READ THE SIGNS, I’ll never get over the ending.
