wrap up YA Books

August Wrap Up

I am posting this a few days late but I just couldn’t be bothered to attempt to blog when I was away on holiday as I knew nothing would come out the way I wanted to.. anyway, I managed to read a good 14 books throughout August:

  1. It Only Happens In The Movies by Holly Bourne ★★★★★ – this was so so good, even though I expected it to be the ending it did, I still expected a certain thing to happen.
  2. A Room Away From Wolves by Nova Ren Suma ★★★☆☆ – I picked this up at YALC as I was drawn to the cover, I liked it but not really my type of book.
  3. The Forest Queen by Betsy Cornwell ★★★★★ –  this one started out a little slow but once I got into it, I just couldn’t put it down, it was so good and I really enjoyed the fact that it’s a female Robin Hood type story.
  4. Allied by Amy Tintera ★★★★★ – the final book in the Ruined trilogy, so sad that I’ve now finished this series but I loved it and it ended really well too.
  5. Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J Maas ★★★★★ – I have reviewed this so you can find the link to that here.
  6. City of Bastards by Andrew Shvarts ★★★★☆ – the second book in the Royal Bastards trilogy (I think it’s a trilogy) and I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first one, it was a bit slow at times but I do look forwards to War of the Bastards.
  7. The Collide by Kimberly McCreight ★★★★☆ – The third and final book in the The Outliers trilogy, again, not as good as the first two in my opinion but it was a good conclusion to the series.
  8. Potion Diaries: Royal Tour by Amy Alward  ★★★★☆ – I’ve been meaning to continue this series for a while, especially after I read her Jinxed book I told myself that I must carry them on and I have, it was just as good as the first one!
  9. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han ★★★★☆ – I had to drop my TBR because the film came out and pretty much everyone kept posting spoilers which kinda annoyed me so I had to go read it and I loved it, such a good book and the film was really good too!
  10. Potion Diaries: Going Viral by Amy Alward ★★★★☆ – I thought that this was the third and final book but apparently there is a fourth book in the works? not sure if it’s true but I look forwards to it nonetheless even though this one ended okay.
  11. Are We All Lemmings and Snowflakes by Holly Bourne ★★★★★ – another Holly Bourne book this month, this was SO SO AMAZING, if you loved her Am I Normal Yet? trilogy you’d love this one too! Holly is legit the contemporary queen!
  12. The Waning Age by S E Grove ★★★★☆ – I traded for an arc of this book, it was a bit slow to begin with but I ended up enjoying it a lot. It’s out next year so keep an eye out for it!
  13. Your Turn To Die by Sue Wall an ★★★☆☆ – I bought this at the airport because I though, ooh a thriller, but it was disappointing, I expected a lot more.
  14. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling ★★★★★ – the final book in my reread of the series, probably even more heartbreaking to me than the first time I read it.

I also tried to read The Lost Witch by Melvin Burgess but DNF it at 86 pages, it was just so slow and boring, I thought the MC was like 16/17 as the cover shows that but its actually a 13 year old which is fine but I just couldn’t carry it on and I didn’t want to force myself to read it. ★☆☆☆☆
